Olga Wisinger-Florian is one of the most important Austrian female artists of the 19th century and the beginning of the 20th century.

She was a multi-talent, her parents promoted her musical and artistic talent very early. She had to quit her musical career and then she had success as a visual artist in Austria and also in other countries. Wisinger-Florian also teacher other young women in painting and drawing and committed herself for the rights of women. She was a friend of Bertha von Suttner.

Olga Wisinger-Florian, who worked in the milieu of Emil Jakob Schindler, was a representative of the Austrian Impressionism, which ist called Mood Impressionism. Her preferred subjects were landscaped and flower still lifes, in her late works she used strong vivid colours and dynamic brushstrokes.
